"Hey, I'm Patrick O'Keefe, Production Designer of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. I think on our end, we wanted something that was classic Nike, classic Jordan, classic sneakers, classic Spider-Man. What is Miles going to wear in his film?"

"It's going to be something that is timeless but something that's new, just like the film. We leverage the style of classic animation, classic comic books, legends. It's all about bringing these legends together, and so creating a shoe now that is something …"

"… new but timeless. And the thing we always want on the film is just feeling like, from the audience, it's a walk down the aisle in your favourite comic-book store. And so all the different comic-book styles come together".

"And it's the sneakers that take us on our journey. And so taking the sneakers through the journey and picking out the textures and the patterns that represent the journey of the film on Miles' feet, the shoes that he is going to wear".

"It's the legacy and the story that he's telling, and it's his story mixed with the classic Jordan look. One of the hardest things, I think, going through all of that too was, OK, the affinity to have to stick to that particular shoe from the first film".

"Mm-hmm. He wore that shoe in the first film, and it was such a part of his character, so how do we evolve that without making the same shoe? Yeah, yeah. And, I mean, it's same with the art style. It's like in the original shoe that's legendary. You can't improve on a legend …"

"… but you can stand on their shoulders and reach for the next thing. And what makes me so proud is we've taken this classic and made it his own. This is a character who has had an impact on a lot of people all over the world".

"And as the filmmakers, we all feel like we're Miles in a lot of ways. And so we're really proud that our boy's growing up. To bring a real shoe to a character makes them feel real, and it makes them feel specific. From head to sneaker".

"We're going to make these characters feel like real people that really reflect the cultures they represent. I'm excited to see a world in which there's more collaboration and we can bring more of that authenticity to our characters. It'll be a beautiful day. Mm-hmm".

"We should get these back to Miles, my boy's walking around shoeless. Good idea. Getting his socks all dirty".
